Please complete the enrollment form.  Lara will then contact you to set up a free 20-minute consultation- over telephone or Zoom- so that she can learn more about your child and answer any questions you may have. If it is determined that your child is good candidate for cohort classes, Lara will then set up a free assessment session to better understand their specific strengths and needs.  Assessment sessions will be scheduled beginning the week of August 3rd.  The will be done over Zoom and should take 30-45 minutes to complete.

Red Learning Groups (Emergent Readers) 
This group is most appropriate for first graders who are pre-readers and have learning gaps from kindergarten. This reading group will focus on developing phonological awareness and strengthening relationships between letters & sounds.  Children will work on segmenting and blending sounds, handwriting of letters, sight word instruction, and emergent literacy skills.

RedGroup B- Wednesdays & Fridays 8AM

Orange & Yellow Learning Groups (Early Readers)
This group is most appropriate for first graders (orange) or second graders (yellow) who are just beginning to read. These children may recognize 20 or more sight words, can already touch and read simple books with repeating patterns, and may attempt to "sound out" simple words. The orange and yellow groups will work on decoding and spelling short vowel pattern words with blends, will write simple sentences from dictation, and will work on fluency and expression when reading.

Yellow Group B- Wednesdays & Fridays 4PM


Green & Blue Learning Groups ( Early/Fluent Readers)

This group is most appropriate on-grade-level 2nd graders (Green) or below benchmark 3rd graders (Blue) who need support. These readers can read most single syllable words, but need strategies for attacking multi-syllable words. This group will study syllable patterns and syllable division rules to improve spelling and reading fluency. 


Green Group- Mondays & Saturdays 11:30AM

Blue Group- Wednesdays & Fridays 5:30PM


Purple Learning Groups (Fluent Readers)

This group is for older elementary students who can fluently read on or above third grade level, but may have poor spelling and/or difficulties decoding larger words. This group will study syllable patterns, word elements (prefixes, suffixes, bases), and learn word attack strategies to improve spelling and reading.

Quarter One- August 24 - October 31, 2020

10 weeks of support- 18 lessons

Limited to 5 students per group


The cost of each 10 week class is $1,150*.  This fee covers 18 small group reading lessons and all materials (letter tiles, magnetic journals, student notebooks, dry erase board, two dry erase markers, and tutoring bag) to be mailed to your home. The tuition also covers all teacher planning & instructional time and includes a temporary student membership ($175 value) to Rosetta Stone's LexiaCore5 game-like online reading program.  LexiaCore5 is available to students for as long as they are enrolled in reading classes.  It is a wonderful progress monitoring and instructional tool that provides extra practice in the areas of phonics, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
